FS: Early (65-67) split grille engine lid

I bought this from a guy in Laguna Beach with plans to use on my own car (I have a '67 with a 69-73 lid) as I wanted the correct one. Came off a '67, but could be drilled for '65-'66 script easily, of course.... I looked at quite a few lids previously and none were acceptable--As some of you know, I owned and ran a collision repair shop for years here near Marina Del Rey and also taught auto body repair/paint at a local college (El Camino). In my opinion, this lid is better than 95% of them out there. No structural damage There is some surface rust and pitting as pictured, but no deep "cancer". There is a small area (about an inch or so) at the bottom edge that is seperated (I think someone tried to grind the edge and cut through) and needs a quick weld. Also a few very small dents. My educated opinion is that someone had tried to sand the lower areas of the lid and got a little overzealous with the DA sander. They then just left the lid with areas of bare metal exposed for, I suppose many years, causing surface rust and some pits. I was planning on having the lid media blasted and after repair and priming should be good for another 40 years. Selling, as I stumbled upon a pretty much mint lid a while back that I couldn't pass up. Otherwise I would not hesitate at all to use this one. $290 + shipping (Greyhound for economy or your choice)..
