The Caterham driver is much smoother in a much lighter car - shorter brake areas, and much faster through the corners. The only place the 934 had the advantage was when the turbo spooled up on the straight.

....all I see , caterham pushing limits to pass 934, while that one is driving on its own pace - 60% no more.

    P.s. GREAT video , indeed.

I dunno Gytis, I think the 934 driver was peddling for all he was worth go stay ahead. Look at how far he is off track at the end of the front straight on both laps. I just think the Caterham driver was more experienced, and doing a better job hitting his apexes.

Just for kicks I tried to find a lap time comparison between the two at the Nurburgring. The fastest 934/5 time I found was Helmut Kelleners at 8:13, a driver for EVO magazine did a 7:55 in a Caterham R300 lightweight. The Caterham is limited by poor aero to under 160mph top speed while the 934 is good to probably 190 or so. Even with the higher top speed down that long straight the 934/5 still couldn't match the Caterham lap time, I have to say I'm surprised.

Jim , I have to agree to unknown facts: driver experience, reasons and etc.....but if you pay attention to very beginning of video, Caterham, wasn't going flat out ( shift into third or fourth gear at ~3.5k rpms) until he got passed by 934 ..... that is when the Cat started chasing 934 flat out, getting into tiny gaps, sliding through the corners just to stay on striking distance.....934 driver had to be inexperienced ( on more than one instance not using full width of track, braking WAY too early)...... or just had different reason for driving the way he was driving, therefor he definitely wasn't running flat out.........

What I am saying is - here are APPLE compared to ORANGE.

though I LOVE THE VIDEO and the spirit of it

Caterham R300 ? is it ?........video sais 280hp Caterham vs 934. That makes me assume : Cat R500 at 1133 lbs (515kg) and 280hp vs Porsche 934 at ~2100 lbs (954.5kg) and +-485hp....... pretty even specs. cars . difference only 30 or so years of progress in every aspect.

Guys, Paolo, was testing the 934 with the Kremer crew, they have being rebuilding this car for the past year, many pages donde in Classic Porsche, Keith Seum has done the spread.
He is a very good driver, but after spending all of the money he has i would figure he is taking it easy out there.

Thank you San. My point exactly, there was a reason 934 was doing aprox 60% it's capabilities.
