    New Import Duties for 30+ Years Auto Parts

    Stuff just got more expensive for our old cars... Pg12 30+ year old cars used to be duty free...

    http://www.customs.gov.au/webdata/re...8April2012.pdf

    This means 15% duty will be tacked on to pretty much any parts being imported into Oz for our cars... I think this will affect all road cars and a lot of race cars. Then they'll calculate GST.

    Not sure how this will affect the current Pelican/Stoddard/Sierra Madre stuff we may order, and what (if any) thresholds may exist.

    Clyde I read that whole clears are definitely subject to the duty and that only single seat race cars on Table A appear to have an exemption. I'm not trained in reading Customs schedules, so maybe someone familiar with stuff can chime in?

    TABLE "A" (a) Formula Brabham, except for vehicles which are constructed
    from other than carbon (b) Formula Ford; (c) Formula Vee; (d) Speedway racing; (e) Drag racing;
    (f) Offroad racing; or (g) Go Kart racing; Op. 17.12.92 Dec. date Order revoked - change keyed to 8703.23.00
    fibre composite materials;
    15.04.93 - TC 9300388 in Tariff Classification - see TC1210966
