    engine number T or S? Do they match the car?

    I have a 73t car and I'm trying to find out if the engine is original to the car.
    I'm also trying to determine if it's a T , E or S engine.
    The car was converted to Weber's in 1977 by PMO in San Monica . I have the paperwork from 77.
    There is a sticker that says the engine number which matches the block that says "2.4S". (maybe this was wishful thinking? In 1977) The sticker is from PMO when they converted to carbs.
    The build date of the car is 09-72 car number 9113100416.
    Does anyone here know if this engine matches the car before I get a COA?
    Thanks!

    Look to the right side of the fan housing. There is a vertical flat portion of the casting down towards the block. It will have a seven digit number stamped there with 'stars' on either side of the number. It will start with the number 61xxxxx if it is a T engine. 63xxxxx if an S engine. Post what that number is and we can help you ID what you have.

    Any idea if this could the original block for this car?
    Or would I only be able to find out with a COA?
    Also is the 61"3" designate a 73?

    Yes on the COA, but I have heard stories of gross inconsistencies in those documents.

    Yes, the 3 designates a 73MY engine.

    Engine#

    6 = 6 cylinder
    1 = T - fuel injected
    3 = 1973
    0690 = sequential number

    NOTE: USA/CAN 1973 T sequential numbers 0XXX = MFI injection, 3XXX = CIS injection

    VIN #

    911 = vehicle model (911)
    3 = model year (1973)
    1 = engine type (T - fuel injected)
    0 = body version (Coupe)
    0416 = sequential number

    It is most likely the original engine, the engine number is the correct age and type for your VIN.
