    Found 73t Targa

Just got this into the garage. Its been sitting off the road since 1990. Currently black, original color is Aubergine. Original fuchs included.

Mostly rust free, just a few spots on one rocker, and the bottom of the front fenders.

    Seats are beyond repair

Front pan is in great shape

Pretty cool stuff came with it.

My wife has decided she wants it. Car will go back to original color. Have to track down a few bits, recover the dash, find correct seats. We'll see what kind of compression the motor has after sitting a while. Turns over already, unstuck the fuel pump this morning.

Interesting mark on the air cleaner cover.

I tried tracking down the name of the mechanic from 1986 that did this work. Only thing I could find on "Herbert Lombardo" is an entry at VIR in 1967.

Finally have the targa in the shop and on the dolly.

Front fenders are off and tank is out.

Made a set of braces today, so I can tie down the chassis while I fix few spots where water was leaking

Too many distractions, but back on the targa.

Searching the forums for paint details, trunk, engine compartment, inside the fenders.

Factory color still on the car, door sill covers never pulled off.

Back to bare metal and zinc pickling on the skin. PO at some point ground the paint off before the black paint job.

Undercoat cracked in a few places, not sticking to factory galvanizing.

Hope to have the fender back on this weekend, then on to the pedal section of the floor.

Internet says Herbert Lombardo is 72 and lives in Boone, NC

Like all classic Porsches, it turned out as a little more...

The hole is patched, chassis brace installed, rocker patch created. Welded in a new gasket flange too. Busy weekend.
