My Ears and why I need a set of vent windows.

    Hi ALl,

During the NEMM, Resa and I traded cars for 20 minutes or so. It was sort of an out of body experience for me as Reza's car has a 2.2S motor as does my car but in a short wheelbase chassis, a factory short shifter and a certain Yoda like quality few cars I've ever driven have. Of course being a SWB it also had vent windows. I get pretty hot in the 1970S, even with the sunroof and backlights open. And I find if I have the windows open on a long trip I loose a good amount of my hearing for the next few days. So I have seen folks put the top window frames in their long hood cars. Does anyone have any suggestions on this front and does anyone have a set of these I can purchase?

    Thank you.

folks like these, are in the Yoda farming business. and there are a few more like them out there.

dezzmo's car is LWB with SWB quarter windows. Harry possibly will have some windows if he parts his breeding pair of 67 912s : )

I have a pair of 68 window frames which are aluminum like your '70, but have the hinged vent windows. Email me at "Cornpanzer@sbcglobal.net"

Put a plexiglass 911R window in the PASSENGER side with an an aircraft "vista vent" like this

MUCH lighter weight than heavy brass frames (which will need to be rechromed), 911R homage, and an airplane part in a Porsche! What's not to love.

Thanks all. I'm hoping to get David's frames as I like how that looks more then those 911R porthole aircraft vent sort of things. Is there a lot of wind noise with those?

    Yale,

No matter what you do please consider wearing those little foam earplugs while driving your 911 any distance (and while mowing the lawn, using power tools, at concerts, etc). You will notice that your level of fatigue after a long day of driving is lessened as well as saving your hearing, which will degrade naturally as you age anyway.

Well i actually did wear ear plugs but that's not a lot of fun and I didn't think they were that successful at blocking out the wind frequencies. When I drove Reza's car with the vents it was relatively quiet. I saw an interview with Jackie Stewart who said it was the wind noise that actually really effected his and other race drivers hearing more then the noise of the engine. Wouldn't think that would be the case if you were wearing a helmet.
