Need a rear flare expert- What flares are on the rear of my 71 "S" Targa?

I have the 71 "S" Targa that I listed a few weeks ago on EBay. I will be putting the car back up for sale but am gathering a little more information. The car had rear flares added to it sometime before 1977 as I have a 1977 dated photo that shows them on the car. They are metal and are definitely not 911SC or later flares as I have one of those parked in the same garage and I compared them. Does anybody know based on the photos which flares these are? TIA!

Reminds me of the '2.5 fender extensions' mentioned on the CoA for 9113300113, last reported owned by Leon Kreger (LKreg) . . .

    . . . . 'cept these look bigger

Do you have the CoA for your vehicle?

Take your wheel off and check the upper inside of your fender for signs of the work.
It could be a custom flare, or modified US/Euro 74/75/76 Carrera flare... modified because it doesn't contour at the lower rear for the flared bumper.
Most of the early 'G' body Carrera's I've seen were the 'large flange '73 type... then sometime afterwards they changed to what would become the consistent small flange SC type.

If it's custom you might be able to see the vertical 'stretch cuts'...
If they're applied they might have been stepped/lapped welded (like mine was in '73) or the more conventionally butt welded.

Please tell what evidence, if any, you see under there......

    Hope any of this helps

I remember these same flares on a 71s targa ,gold at the time, that my brother owned briefly in the 80's. they looked factory but did not require flared bumper ends, like these.I never looked up under them though. The car also had "airport gears 'and hauled ass. S

Those don't look like factory R, T/R, S, "bump/2.5", S/T, RS, SC, or RSR flares. They look like either a race team or individual made them, as they do look like some photos that have been posted. It's possible that the factory did them, but only a Cardex or letter from someone of authority would provide evidence of that.

here is my 73 with RS flares, as you can see the bumpers are flared to fit, as is the rocker.

I would have to venture 'custom'.

They are more convex than 911R.

They are bigger than the factory LWB 7" flare (the Kreger 'baby RS' flare)

They do not have the bumper flare like the 8" RS Flare

They also have an even flange unlike an RS flare; these appear more like a 911SC/Carrera flare of a later car

They are not as big as most/all of the ST flares, and of course not as big as RSR/Turbo flares

I think they are neato. Like an RS flare that was worked inward to match the narrow bumpers.
