    1968 911L Hot Rod

    1968 Porsche 911L Hot Rod
    VIN 11810012
    Engine Type 930/06
    Engine # 6581880

This early 911 hot rod was built off of a clean black plate California 911L tub. The car has been transformed into what I can only describe as a race car for the street. It is lite weight (1,875 lbs), very fast, and extremely nimble. I can best describe this car as being lively.

The engine is a 1978 3.0 liter with Weber 40 carbs and PMO intakes. It also had headers and an R style sport muffler. The carbs have been tuned and inspected by Bruce at Klub Sport Racing. A leak down test has also been performed and the motor is very strong and healthy. At the same time a Carrera style front oil cooler has also been installed in the front fender to aid in keeping the motor cool. The engine performs flawlessly and sounds beautiful. It also sports a natural finish fiberglass shroud, mesh intake covers on the carbs, and special rain shields. The engine and engine compartment is clean and shows beautifully. Oil and filter has recently need changed.

The gearbox is a 901/02 with A F M S X gearing. This produces lively acceleration. All gears engage perfectly and there are no issues. Gearbox oil has been recently changed.

The car has been freshly painted Slate Grey. Not the original color of this L, but a correct color for 1968. The decklids, bumpers, front fenders, and doors are all fiberglass. The fit and finish is excellent. The paint is excellent. All the windows are plexi except for the front windscreen. The car features many 911R touches such as the rear quarter windows, the plastic door handles, decklid T handles, rear decklid hinges, rear light assemblies, front turn signal and parking lights, and the openings in the front fenders. The front fenders have a mild flair as do the rear. The wheels are refinished Fuchs that are 15x6 in front and 15x7 in the rear. Headlights are Euro 901 Hella.

The R treatment has been carried over into the interior from the minimalist dash to the helmet box mounted behind the driver’s seat. The driver’s seat is a vintage seat I have had for quite a while and the passenger seat is a Speedster style bucket. Both have been refinished in a deep red vinyl with corduroy inserts. The roll bar is a TRE piece that replicates the bar used in the R. A new four point OMP harness in black has been installed on the driver’s side.

Brakes and suspension are excellent. The calibers have been recently rebuilt, the rotors recently replaced, and brake lines replaced with braided. The Bilstein shocks are also recent. No signs of any accident damage or rust repair. The fuel tank features a custom neck and cap. Again, no rust or any issues in the front trunk.

This is a hot rod that can be used on street or for track days. Docile enough to drive to get coffee…aggressive enough to excite you on your favorite twisty road.

Available for $61,000 or reasonable offers

It's a great (marketing) lesson on how to create value (color change and details).

    Good luck w/ the sale.

    Same car......kinda

As it has been pointed out, this is the former flat blue hot rod. The previous owner, Matt, did a fantastic job on getting the car to a certain point. I was very fortunate to purchase the car from him. This is more then a color change and seats, quite a bit of work has been done to this 911 to get it to the next level. This car could not be built to this level for less then my asking price.

The car is available for inspection and a PPI.
