Slowly but surely coming along. Lots of little niggly things to source every week. Split ring bushing on the steering wheel spring, bump stop for the front Koni, luggage strap hooks, front silver cardboard fuse panel cover, square profile turn signal stalk (a round later G body style was on there), etc. etc.

But it looks like a car!

Wow! Just read this whole thread from start to ... Today! Can't believe I missed it. What an amazing journey of adventure, positivity & patience. And the detective work with the car's history.
Funny how we often revere low owner cars (original owner cars are of course different) yet the stories behind the cars are what gives them character and soul. I bought my 911 from its first owner - and it's still unrestored, mostly original paint (light Ivory). Seems kinds boring compared to this!

It's been quiet for a while and I have been massively busy with work, so no updates in a long time.

For anyone counting, June 13th is 6 years. Down to the nitty gritty details like finding a nice patina "S" in the PORSCHE lettering on the engine lid. Mine has a gouge in it and while that does tell some long lost story, it kinda grates on me given that the outside is perfection and the patina has been confined to the interior. Major issue is that we can't find a reasonably priced input shaft for the gearbox. Fortunately Robert Gross has a completely rebuilt tranny that is just a few hundred numbers out that will suffice as a loaner until we can find the right part.

Last piece of the puzzle was a NOS Sigla windshield I scored. Delivered to him on Friday along with a couple of rubber seal options. The Stoddard seal was rubbish. Not even shaped properly for the opening. Found a NOS one finally, though it looks like the URO one is also a great match. The windshield on the car was a replacement, probably cracked in one of the front end shunts in its early years. Not a bad replacement, but scratches in two arcs from wiper blades having come off or something.

Pickup scheduled for June 23rd the day after I return from a trip to Paris. Weather permitting. Engine made 216 hp on the dyno. Gotta be happy with that.
