    904 gas cap

I'm looking for this type of gas cap as used on many 904's - anybody know the origins (what other vehicle may have used it) or have a source for one ?

I'm sure that I could probably get one from Warren Eads at Spyder Sports but any other suggestions ?

    Andy,
What is the size of this cap?
Looks like the material is plain steel?
Do you have deteailed pictures of it, front back and side?

Sorry Alex, I don't have any pictures of the underside.

It's steel & I would guess that the overall diameter is 110mm since you also see 904's fitted with 110mm finned Blau caps (as used on 911R/ST/RSR models).

I would think that it was also made by Blau but this style/size is not listed on their website.

My thoughts were that it might have originated from Mercedes/Hanomag trucks but have had no luck in tracking one down so far.

    Hi Andy,

Here are a couple more pictures to reference. I think Andy Elsener made up a few of these a while back. Might give him a call or email (Andy at AndyElsener.com) his website has phone and address details..

The size is 110mm on the cap and I would say that it is steel with a hollow fin.. With the knurled edge I would say 99% that it is Blau. A few more shots..

Hi Richard - yes, I have one of those (new) which I planned to use as a base with a fabricated (hollow) 'fin'/handle if I'm not able to find a complete one.

I have seen quite a few of the 'originals' on 904's & most look exactly the same as each other - more like an 'off the shelf' item rather than individually fabricated.
