    Cast iron cylinders in a '65 911?

Just trying to verify that a 1965 911 originally had cast iron cylinders....the rusty ones?....

    Thanks!

65 had Biral which is aluminum fins around a cast iron liner
if they are rusty on the outside they are 68- 911T

I think these were replacements. The pistons don't have the oil ring below the wrist pin either....but are not some aftermarket forged jobs...

Wondering...all the 2.0L pistons I've seen had the oil ring below the wrist pin. But I'm not sure if they were always that way.

    Ring placement

Aaron, The 911S had all three lands above the wrist pin, and also had the larger/deeper valve pockets.

The normal pistons had the ring lands two up and one below the wrist pin.

Let me know if you need any Mahle singles with the Biral cylinders.
