1977 USA Made Vehicle with 11.1 Billion Miles

So NASA's Voyager I, launched in 1977, is finally about to leave our solar system! Star Trek becomes closer to reality. The most significant achievement in the history of man? I'd say so. Although one would never guess by the complete lack of news coverage. Tough for the networks to fit a news piece like that in when Lindsay is out wrecking Porsches and junk ....

I did hear about this down here in Australia so someone is taking note.

Maybe if they discover there is wall at the end of solar system and there is spectacular crash they might run it as a lead story!

The moon landings were the high water mark of Western Civilization, it has been all down hill since then.

This is a lot farther than the moon. And on its way there it flew past Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune, getting photos of each and their moons. We learned a lot about the outer solar system because of Voyager. What we saw with Voyager was the impetus for the Galileo and Cassini missions that followed.

I am amazed they can still tell the weak signal from the background radiation at that distance!

The Voyager spacecraft only have 23 watt transmitters but transmit on a frequency with very little interference allowing the receivers on Earth to use very large levels of amplification. It's estimated that the power output of the nuclear reactor powering Voyager 1 and 2 will by 2025 decrease to the point that the spacecraft will cease to operate. Consider that will be nearly 50 years in space!

she had a fabulous career and has now become just another news story about the too rich, the spoiled, the degenerate Hollyweird actresses and actors hell-bent on overcooking themselves into oblivion.

look for an obit the next news flash.

At least Voyager had a useful purpose in life before it burns out

Ironically, NASA's Jet Propulsion Lab in Pasadena (where Voyager's data are read) and the location of Lindsey's latest 'mishap' are only miles apart

What part of PCH was it then? Not sure I would say they were close to each other. Relative to 11.1 billion miles, yes.
