    Ignition Wire Help

I'd like to make up an ignition wire set for my 71 2.2 and understand that I would need to use spiral core wire and not the solid core because of the interference it would generate with the CD box. I have the ignition wire and boots for the distributor end, but where can I get spark plug boots that I can use with the spiral core wire? I assume these boots would not have resistance built in like the solid core boots, and of course the wire crimping would be different.

Thanks in advance for any help.

John, if this helps, the original ignition wire on all early 911's with CD was copper stranded wire, no need to use that funky stuff you're trying to deal with. In fact that is all I will use, and I prefer to make my own sets from bulk wire, and use the correct original plug ends that screw onto the stranded wire. Sure makes life easier, and the original sets only lasted 40 some odd years!!! I'd say they work just fine, no need to reinvent the wheel!

Many thanks Ed. I was told the solid core wire I use for the earlier cars would create EMI/RFI with the CD ignition. Using copper core wire will make it easier. Thanks again for the helpful advice!

John, the only instance I'm aware of that requires that resistance graphite wire is the use of MSD boxes. Evidently they don't like the EMF radiation.
