    Rear shock mounting bolt

Is the lower rear shock mounting bolt and nut on a 70 911 plated and if so is it gold zinc.

    Thanks

My 69 was gold, with no black evident.

I just removed this right rear shock bolt from my 70 T Targa. Not easy to prove that it was yellow cadmium plated originally but it does seem there is some "gold" color in the root of the threads. The markings on the bolt are KAMEX 8.8 . Interesting to look at the detail of the split lock nut, also note that the smaller washer was between the shock and the trailing arm. The nut on the back side of the trailing arm did not have a washer. I will have to look at my parts manual tonight to confirm. Bigger question is what do you do with a bolt that looks like this? How do you properly prep it for plating and which process to go with - Cadmium plating or the zinc plating with the yellow wash ( phospate?) ?
