Very controversial topic: Flat 4 reproduction 4.5" Fuchs

Has anyone put a set of the 4.5 Flat Four reproduction Fuchs on their 911? Seems like it would be a low buck way ($500 for the wheels) to get the 4.5" look. Would be easy to buy the fully polished ones, paint the darts, and de bling them a bit to look like anodized wheels.

These wheels and a set of Vred 165's would look cool on a SWB car.

I know, I know, it's a travesty, sacrilege, etc etc

Anyone willing to admit they have done this?

Why would you want to put 4.5 inch wheels on anything

    I would never do it.

BUT, if I ever did, I would never tell a soul, much less admit it on a public forum with pics.

OK, got that off my chest, so will say that I believe like 95% of the true believers would know something's afloat in the punchbowl, and that the 5 % that drank from that punchbowl would never know that what was floating in there, really should be in a porcelain latrine.

The Porsche hobby/world is so weird...... But at least the early 911 world isn't quite as snobby as the 356 world.

Barwaut, you are a brave man for admitting you <gasp> put FAKE FUCHS on your Porsche! I think they look great, perhaps if the car was lowered a few inches it would handle better.

4.5s are highly prized by the VW fans. Very worth while making them, I think that actual Porsche usage is a secondary market.

Fritter, I am not sure he is admitting to "Fake" Fuchs. What I read is that he has 4.5's on his car and they look great but do not handle well. I would hate to have that rumor started if it is not so.

It would be kind of cool to have them widened to 7" to get a decent contact patch for real cornering. And, still look like the 4 1/2" classic '67 Fuchs.

They are cool either fake or real, but the fact remains you still get the increase in stopping distance and kill handling, even if they are lowered. If you have original ones from your car, but have upgraded wheels, stack them; drop a 911 windshield on it and turn them into an exciting looking coffee table for the man cave.
