    Inlet Manifolds

Whenever we refurbish carbs the rods that locate the quadrant which connects to the crank on the transmission always look scruffy and are difficult to clean to a good standard.

They are not difficult to re-manufacture and quite straightforward to remove and replace.

We have made new rods from ground stainless steel rod (EN303) and fitted stainless E Clips of the correct size/shape.

We have fitted them to Weber manifolds that have been chemically stripped, chromated and then painted in Dupont Imron PU paint and baked.

I believe that Imron was the paint originally used.

We have also made the rods the correct length for Solex and MFI systems.

Has anyone spotted the deliberate mistake?

Is it the starting taper on the end of the pin? Is the pin just a press fit into the manifold?

Yep = my 'Simpson' moment Doh!

They are a slight interference but we lightly stake the rod before pressing it into the manifold with a manderl to prevent the circlip groove closing up.

The short taper is identical to the original shafts.
