Thread: 1970 Crystal Blue 911E Targa at 2012 PCA Parade in Salt Lake City, Utah!

1970 Crystal Blue 911E Targa at 2012 PCA Parade in Salt Lake City, Utah!

My wife & I arrived yesterday at the PCA Parade event hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah, after a 7 hour drive from our mountain home in Vail Valley, Colorado. Spent all day today prepping car for Monday's Concours in a pretty hot underground garage where all concours entrants are parked together. Still have all day tomorrow to work on the car. It's being entered in the 'Preservation' Group, so originality is the primary focus of this particular judging exercise.

The car's color is 'Crystal Blue', a very rare factory hue. It has 55K original miles, original paint, interior, etc. This car was on the cover of the 4th issue of 'Gmund Magazine' back in 1980 and it has been kept in a remarkable prestine condition by each of its three custodians. I first saw this car in 1980 when I lived in NYC. 28 years later I finally convinced its second owner to sell it to me! It was worth the long wait!

Will keep you all informed on this Parade Concours experience via posts on this thread, including photos of John Straub's great 911 which he is prepping for the show on Monday!

    Saludos,
    Eduardo

That's great Ed, good for you. You, John, and Candyce will represent the Registry very well in the Preservation class. I look forward to seeing photos of the Concours and of course seeing your Blue baby in person next weekend.

Thanks Nick. Yes, another great color like your 'RS Green'! Super9064: Yes, a nice original early 911 color and quite rare too! Bullethead: Thanks for the song! That is from my era.

Brian: Candyce has her wonderful Sepia Brown 1973 coupe here and John has that great 'barn' find! In addition, we have this very nice 1973 911T Targa (see first attached photo). There may be others in our Preservation 'early 911' class but we haven't seen them yet. By the way, unfortunately I am not going to be in Vail next weekend so I will miss you on your bicycle race. Hope we can hook up soon - either in Carmel or in Colorado. As it turns out, I will be driving the 1970 911E Targa to Carmel and I will fly back to Denver on July 17th.

Concours is tomorrow. We have to be in the garage at 5:30 AM to drive the cars to the Concours site at the State of Utah Capitol 'grounds'! There are a few other interesting cars here for the show. See photos below.

Thanks t6dpilot! Yes, that is the vintage car replacing my old 'Signal Yellow' 1973 911T Sunroof which has been sold and is now residing in the 'Fatherland' (see photo below).

Regarding RSTarga's question, as LongRanger stated it's a 1952 Glockler! Attached is a rear shot of that car and the display info!

I am off to bed now. We are scheduled to start placing the cars on the field at 5:30 AM!
