    details on interior paint?

    I know there was a thread way back when that discussed repainting of the bare interior and some different "markings" people had found beneath panels and carpet- I can't find it after searching for a bit so I wanted to see what opinions were about this. The 70E is being painted over the next few days and I want to communicate the right details to the shop. Between my past/current cars and others' cars, I've seen some variation- is there any part of the interior paint that everyone agrees on? I know the rear parcel shelf/interior quarters and rear seats were all body color- how about the front and rear floor area, shifter area, etc.?

    Also, for extra credit, the luggage compartment's front pan was textured, correct? If so, did it extend up around the start of the gas tank?

    Thanks very much guys- trying to confirm all the details I'm unsure of.

    Was the car built by Karmann or Porsche? I think it affects the answer for luggage compartment finish.

    Porsche build- the luggage cmpt color (body color) I'm good with- it's a matter of the textured vs smooth border

    My Porsche built 69 had stone guard texture throughout the interior over the large panels, which then had body color applied, except on the following;

    1. Rear seat mounting point
    2. Front seat mounting points, both on the tunnel and longitudinal
    3. Around the parking/emergency brake,and
    4. Under the dash, which carried down to the floor to the pedal assembly.

    Now for the bonus points. The stone guard texture in the front was applied to the following areas;

    1. Back of the front latch panel, upto the tube for the front bonnet release cable
    2. Gas tank support, and into the gas tank opening, and across the back
    3. Inside on the vertical from the strut support, through to the front latch support, but not inside the battery boxes, upto and including the fender mounting points.

    Around the strut, it didn't really have a line, and my car was different on both sides, it would appear the they just waved the gun up that way, if you know what I mean.

    Having said that I masked along the strut panel line support that runs at 45 degrees, for a more finished look.

    Being a 69 mine was satin black, which appeared to be over a fair amount of overspray of body color.

    Hope that helps.
