    COA Question???

I have go through this before and wondering if anyone else has....just got a coa for a 67 it stated the car was original red but the car tag comes up as a black car,I completely striped the car and no way it was ever red and the original paint color was black and all the numbers match so whats the deal????

also I have a 1970 and on the coa it states special order paint but on the door tag it clearly comes up as a blue car but I also had stripped that car completely and no way it was ever blue and again all numbers matching car

I've seen other COA which stated completely different paint than what was on the car. Even when looking behind the chassis tag AND on the doors where the original grease pencil markings were it was clear the car was NEVER painted the color listed on the COA. We then got another COA listing from another country and it stated a DIFFERENT paint than the original COA, and it matched what was on the car. I suspect sometimes the COA gets made up with incorrect details and if you request another COA on a different day you might get the correct info.

There are mistakes and missing records in the database PCNA uses for COAs. If you think there's a mistake, call them up and ask them (politely) to research further. Photos of all the distinguishing number tags on the car will help.

My car was missing and they originally gave me the COA for a different chassis. I asked to recheck and they went to the German records and found my car. Numbers-matching as it turns out. It takes a while but is worth the trouble.

Note, however, that the original records do occasionally contain mistakes, and further mistakes sometimes get made when transferring those records over the years. Small company, hand-built cars and all that. Don't expect miracles.

All the COAs I see are usually missing something, from transmission number to options. I have a 1991 LOA which gives (at no charge !) every detail including options and selling dealer and is signed by K. Resch and O. Lang in Stuttgart. Interestingly, the letter took 3 days to get from Canada to Germany and the reply to the owner at the time was the same day ! How times have changed...

When did PCNA take over issuing COAs from the factory ?

When I requested my coa Porsche called me before they sent it out to verify with me. There was an question with the production date of my 1973.5. I sent them a picture of the compliance sticker in the door jamb and they updated the coa. Call them and send a picture of your paint code plate. If you don't have one that could be a problem.
My coa was damaged in transit by the Postal Service, but they had no problem sending me another one. Of course I had to send back the first coa before they would send the corrected one, but they refund the mailing cost. I found them very polite and easy to deal with.

I had similar inaccuracies on my 914-6. I had to discuss my car several times but we got it right. The records for the 914-6's were also not that accurate. Remarkably the 65 911 was correct the first time. I will know within a week or so about the 73 S.

I know that some auto dealers etc have been very demanding and rough on this group, but I found PCNA COA people to always be very courteous, polite and helpful.
