Thread: Running Blower Control Cables

    Running Blower Control Cables

The head unit end of my blower control cables are broken. I have sourced some replacements and was considering using the old cables to pull through the new ones, though it feels like a tight fit and I don't want to break anything.

Any advice on what I should be removing to run the new cables?

It looks like the cables may be entering the luggage compartment somewhere above the radio? Will removing the radio do the trick or do I need to remove the blower unit itself... or something else?

    Thanks in advance.

Thanks Tony, removing the blower made it very straight forward.

Any suggestion on how to clip the cable ends into the levers. Do you need you remove the head unit? Disconnect the levers? Or am I missing something obvious. Assuming bending the wire is bad

    Cheers

Dirk, I'm not home at the moment and I'm having a senior moment (I've forgotten ) but I'll check it out when I get home next week, unless someone else answers the question for you.

I was thinking they just clip in funny little brackets??

I'm assuming you're trying to install the bowden cables that go from the lever slides to the fresh air ventilation valves? If so the only way I've done that is to pull out the lever assembly with the attached cables as a unit. The cable end has a double 90 bent onto it that requires inserting the cable in the lever hole then clamping down the outer sheath after you insure the lever will have sufficient travel without bottoming the cable lever arm into the sheathing. Once all that is done then the entire unit is reinstalled as an assembly back into the dash as you guide the cables through the bulkhead grommet. Then attach at the various levers of the fresh air unit and check adjustments for full travel.

Noticed the wiring associated with the blower has two unused connectors (black & blue and yellow). Are these for the optional heater?
