    Correct wiring for radio/auxilary

Having recently spent some time under my dash I got to witness first hand some untidy wiring. At some point in time the car had an after market stereo and amplifier installed and the now correct radio is wired to the remenance of the previous install.

Can somebody please advise what is the correct way to wire up the radio and where am I best off sourcing auxiliary power from for any aftermarket electronics (such as a charger for my iPhone)

    Cheers

The radio power wire is a yellow wire in a plastic sleeve that that runs along the lip of the dash. Many aftermarket installers don't know its there so they end up mutilating the harness to get power. Often the end of the wire is tucked back into the sleeve and just needs to be pulled out. This wire will be switched with the ignition switch so the radio goes off with the ignition off. I suppose you could use a double connector from this wire to power your charger.

Is there another source for power that utilizes the accessory position on the ignition switch?

Correction: The yellow wire is switched to the accessory position on the ignition switch (or at least is is on my car)
