Engine lid release handle knob shaape

Should the engine hood release handle/knob on a 302xxx car be a round a T knob? What I do know is it isn't supposed to look like mine... have seen a round one on a 300 car (see below), most parts houses list the T handle

Any other tips to installing?

What year?

I think up until 67 it's like the fuel release (small mushroom) and 68 onwards would be a T.

It also looks like your striker shim is upside down.

#302596, built Nov '65. I also thought the small mushroom, but most suppliers parts books show the T.

I strongly believe that the T handle was introduced w/ the MY66.

Please note that your door receiver is the later one (MY 67?). The one on the second picture is the one your car (VIN) should have.

My swb was built in June 66 and has the original 'T' handle so I agree with Richard.

O.K. Luke looks like a mushroom it is for a 65, it's the same thread as the T so you just need the handle and the little rubber grommet if yours is toast.

I think you will find that most suppliers diagrams are from the 68- 71 pars manuals, or at least that has been my experience.
