    School me 74+ RS

Which 74 Carreras have the 2.7 RS motors in them and how do you tell the difference? For how many years did they do this?

Several threads on the specific differences in the "other porsche passions" section. Basically, in 1974 at least, the vin starts with 91146 rather than 91144 to signify that its not the US version. The quick and dirty way to tell the difference is that the Carreras imported into the US were CIS injected, the RoW were MFI (with some exceptions if I'm remembering correctly). I think 1974 had the largest number produced, fewer in '75 and '76.

Often referred to as 2.7 'Euro' Carreras to differentiate them from the CIS-engined 2.7 'US' Carreras.

    1974 coupe VIN = 911 460 0001 - 1036 )
    1974 Targa VIN = 911 461 0001 - 0433 ) Engine no 664XXXX

    1975 coupe VIN = 911 560 0001 - 0518 )
    1975 Targa VIN = 911 561 0001 - 0197 ) Engine no 665XXXX

    1976 coupe VIN = 911 660 9001 - 9123 Engine no 6668XXX - these 123 cars were homolgated as 'RS' models

There were also ~ 20 '76 Targa models manufactured but as far as I know they were all assigned to the Dutch (or was it Belgian ? Austrian ?) police.

    Hi Andy,

A minor adjust is necessary regarding the '76 MFI Carreras (homologated as an RS). The serial numbers for those cars started with 0011, not 0001, so there were actually 113 coupes produced that year. The '76 MFI Targas went to the Belgian Gendarmerie.

Well, I'm looking at it and I know what it is... Does the seller know what it is?

With a BIN of $35K the seller at least knows it's not a 'euro' Carrera.

I believe that is a US (NOT ROW) Carrera. Not the RS bits...like the ROW cars. I believe the market for these is in the $20s-30s. Love the pics!
