    Question rear lid over engine

What year or years did they make the lid out of aluminum? My 1967 911s had a engine cover made of steel. I would like to know if it was only for race cars or also put on street cars? Mine had letters and numbers that were gold in color.

1969 911S had alloy deck lids as standard and I think it was the only year.

Too many customer complaints about denting when closing them.

Many a dealer had bunches due to replacing them . . . and they are highly prized these days.
