    73 911S schock questions

Just purchased 9113300709 and it has Koni shocks. The fronts are gone and I intend to replace all four. Want to replace with Bilstein Sports. Will they fit directly? Also, should be be green or yellow?

(sorry about the odd spelling of shock, can't seem to edit that)

Koni struts and Bilstein inserts up front don't interchange.

thanks for the replies - I probably didn't communicate my question clearly enough .... I was trying to determine if 73 911S's came with either a Koni or a Bilstein shocks/struts as standard. I never have seen anything published on this.

Ed-Thanks, yes I am familiar with the lack of interchangeability between Koni and Bilstein shocks/struts.

    Chuck-Great link. Thank you.

I am awaiting my COA and possibly it will list what the car was originally fitted with.

My own '73 S was delivered with Konis. I believe that this was the standard S package in '73.
I'm currently running Bilstein Sports up front, but the outers are painted red to look like Konis.

Kent-Interesting. So you replaced your front strut? Why did you choose to replace the Koni shocks? Liking the Bilstein Sports? That is the way I am thinking of going.

Correct, my front struts were replaced. My PO made the change back in the 80s based on his use of the car. I do like the Bilstein Sports. The ride quality is all-around good for my style which is exclusively fun type driving (twisties etc).

I think the Konis were stock on the S. I think the first use of the Bilstein was on the Carrera.
