    68 targa s

Hello again I would like to get some feedback as to the value of this car before I decide if I should sell it at this time.
I know I have been asking more than contributing but that is how we learn(ask & you shall receive right)
Thanks in advance for the feedback.
The car doesn't have the original motor but I do have a 68 901/02 period correct complete drivetrain.

Not bad looking. And since you asked, time for twenty questions... just my 2¢ but more info needed. How long have you had it, and is it running the 901/02 now? COA or Kardex specify any special options? Dry, un-bent, un-rusted, OG color & interior? Looks to be (maybe) a driver #3... is replacement motor # close to what it should be? Hagerty says $43K is average for '68 S Targas, and though production is pretty low I'm gonna be more conservative: $30K +/-.

Naturally, you and your buyer may agree to something entirely different... YMMV, etc.

    Thanks again.

It is a converted Soft window. If you had the original soft window parts it would be a much more desirable (read more valuable) car. No, it is not a factory hard back window.

Hey Jim how do I tell if it's not factory? I was hoping it was a soft window.

It has a later back glass and is yelling "I'm a converted SWT". I have sold dozens of those back glasses and the mouldings to owners of SWTs back in the 70s and 80s. Owners of SWTs did not like it that their back windows were yellow and cloudy and hard to take care of. The original hard back glasses in 68 Targas had heater wires buried in the glass and were only made like that for 68. 69 and later back glasses has painted on lines and went from side to side. The 68s had very fine wires, inside the glass, that went from top to bottom. I wish I had kept info on all the owners of those SWTS as some may have kept all the original parts. Most of that stuff went to the local land fill, though.

    Regards

    Jim

check to see if the Targa bar inside upholstery if it has the cut out clearance on the edge for the soft window handles. l would think that many did not replace the overhead padding liner when they installed a hard window

I owned my 67 S (which had a hard window when I found it)for almost one year before i looked up and saw that it had those cut outs. I remember yelling out ...EUREKA! I got a softie... I was pretty green at the time to have missed that detail
