    Not sure exactly what it is as it does not have the '72 oil door and the engine does not look quite right...

    You're right Pete, close up look at the engine bay shows a 71 style front cooler thermostat set-up. Air cleaner snorkle is wrong for a 72. (and other non 72 stuff) Probably built right around model change over time, hence owner thinks it's a 72.

    RHD Targas commenced in the '73 MY , IIRC.

    it has been converted .... but it says so in the text (converted in the 80's) so i dont think there is any intent to misrepresent anything.

    you could be picky with the description of the conversion (did not convert the rear screen wiper for instance)
    also the dash pad does not look to me like an early one - more like a mid year one - look at air vents

    BUT

    It looks nice enough for a good driver (apart from the "silver" coil which i would change before i drove it anywhere in case it didn't want to take me back home).

    However I would not classify it as a "time warp car" unless it was a time warp from the 80's
