    A couple '69T questions

Hello all, I am looking to take on a couple projects here and there with my '69T and wanted to get feedback from the board on some of my questions....and yes, I have used the search function!!

I have the original engine decals that came with the car....they were removed before a repaint in the 90's and are loose now but I wanted to reapply them...however there is no adhesive on the back. Any thoughts on how best to affix them to their proper places?

Whenever I shift gears, the tach swings for a few seconds before "settling" onto the correct RPM and then proceeding higher or lower. When I am not shifting, it is in a smooth up or down swing....there are no issues with throttle response or misfiring during the swinging...the car had an MSD ignition installed a couple years ago, but the swinging has occured both before and after this...I replaced the spark plugs a month ago, still no difference. I have seen some suggest that "the points be cleaned" but I am not entirely sure what this entails. Might it simply need a new/rebuilt tach?

Lastly, when I am running the car, cold or hot, and come to a quick or reasonably quick stop, the idle will drop down below 1,000 and feel like its almost going to stall out. If the engine is hot and I coast to a stop or gently slow down, it will usually idle around 1,100 or so...but anytime I have to apply the brakes more than gently when coming to a complete stop, it almost acts like it wants to peter out....I just put in NGK BP7ES plugs (wanted to put in 6Es but were unavailable when I was part shopping)....any thoughts on how to remedy this?

    I appreciate the help guys.

I've never had any luck trying to restick those decals. Usually when they are pulled off they will no longer be perfectly flat enough to stick down again. Canford Classics, a advertiser on this board has perfect repros now available.

I'm not an expert on gauges, but I think your problem is the internal damping has gone soft. Send it off for rebuild and be sure to give them the symptom.

The most likely culprit for your fast stop idle problem is that the float levels are incorrect.
