    Interesting Door Trim piece

Here is a pic of some door trim that I had posted a while back here on the registry. I asked if anyone knew what it was. I was told it was not a 911 part. I think it is a 911 part. It looks exactly like the profile of the back edge of a door window frame, see pics. Has anyone seen this piece before? Notice the screw holes for attachment? This is a heavy chrome plated part.

Hard to see on my Mobil phone. Looks like a Porsche piece. It would mount on the back edge of a 65-66 door frame that is chromed brass & not the later aluminum ones that have that piece cast with the frame.....Cliff

Well that makes sense. So of course next question, what are these things worth on the open market? They are not mine, trying to help a friend.

Cliff got it, I believe the part went to 1967. Not worth much my guess $25 for a very nice one. Every early 911 to 67 had R&L they are sided. Plating was so well done they usually hold up very well mininimal or zero pitting. They are held on by 4 I want to say 4mm screws that tend to corrode in. If changing soak in rust dissolve prior to removal attempt and go sloooooow.

the window frames for 67 and earlier 900 series cars were made of brass and chrome plated, with a removable wind deflector. 68 and later window frames are made from aluminum and the wind deflector is part of the frame.

    It looks like this part might be # 901 542 262 21
If so, they are apparently still available new for $33

Just in case a picture helps. We have restored quite a few sets of early frames. Here are a pair in bits.

    Thanks
