Believe me, I'm thrilled and not quibbling, and most of us are probably pretty happy. In talking with Robert Gross this evening, he's seen 3 early S's go for more than 200k lately, and so the important point is this isn't an anomaly as I thought. It's the new reality for well done cars.

You really can't use a car like this as it is now "a museum piece". Once they are restored they only go down in value if used.

That's the pessimist in you, Tom. I tend to think like Leno: "Restore 'em to 10, drive 'em down to 8 and then just maintain them at that level."

The 2 you lose in resale dollars you've (hopefully) enjoyed through use. In economics-speak I believe this would be classified as "utility" which, itself, has a value.

Scarred Realist. Jay Leno is a hero. He uses his stuff and sells nothing. Money ain't the object. It's the collection and that's where we all suck wind with these discussions of value.

I tend to think that in general the 2.4S cars will always be slighly higher. There are obviously exceptions such as a Softwindow 67'S targa or something with cool colors and options, but overall I think the 2.4S will bring more dough.

They are all brilliant cars and we are truly lucky to own them....

The 2.4 911S cars are very similar to the "getting very expensive" RS. It stands to reason that as RS prices rise, so will the 2.4S.....and it started with SWB 911S and 911R. Yes,,, what great cars and race history to back it all up!
