Position for horn relay 1964/65 911

    Hi,

I need some help regarding the exact position of the black horn relay for a 1964/65 911. I know it is sitting close to the battery, but I don't know the exact location. Would be great to see it on a photo.

    Thanks,
    Mark

    Mark,

There is one in this thread:

    http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...elays-Analyzed

The horn relay is the one above the washer pump (Bob Tilton photo, his washer pump is blue in color)- and it's right next to the ground lug on the port side of the engine compartment. It is held in place by two plastic bushings that fit into holes in the vertical panel there. The plastic bushings have a square cross section and are about 10mm on a side.

Horn relays have the double contact for "30"- this is a u-shaped piece of metal riveted to the phenolic base, where two wires connect to the same terminal.

I found one from my archive showing the two square bushings. See them?

By the way do you recognize this muffler? A 40 year old mouse nest blew out of it! Works great, sounds great, thanks again.

    John,

thanks for that. The early 1964/65 cars have the washer pump in the upper right corner behind the dash close to the washer reservoir which is in the right wheel house. But I guess the position of the horn relay is the same as on your photos, as the horn wires are in the corner of the battery.

Good to hear about the muffler. Always funny to know where to find mouse nest. I have found one on top of the oil cooler and another recently in the tunnel of a 914 plus plenty of nuts.
