Thread: Thoughts on this 73S?

  1. #1

    Cool Thoughts on this 73S?

This is the exact model a color I'm looking for. Any thoughts from the experts on the car or seller?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and any issues you may spot.

    Anthony,

I'm not going to tell you what is incorrect about this car. I will tell you that you would do well to buy a car from a private collection. If you can pay 150K plus for a car then you should take your time and find a car that has been treated like a member of the family. Buying a newly restored car from a dealer without the history is simply not the same. Be patient. Keep looking.

    Good luck.

    Anthony,

Dave has good advice for you on this one. This dealer has a checkered history from the various threads I have read over the years. The gold spray painted door latches tell us quite a bit about this car.

Even in this market I think this one is wildly over priced. The AL VIN tag is not original and there are no photos of the engine serial number so that is an unknown. By all means look at the car that Haasman mentions in this thread. This is real gem.

There is also a link to a silver Targa in this thread that Ravi posted which might be worth a look, especially if the interior is redone correctly. Happy hunting.

Oh my goodness I just looked back at the eBay ad and noticed this line of BS.

"BELIEVED TO BE 29,639 ACTUAL MILES!"

    Give me a break!

    prices

I did some research and this dealer used to sell tulip bulbs.Get the point! If I were looking for a car,I would investigate this one.His new price on Pelican is 33K.Yes it`s not an "S",but for $130,000 difference,I would like to see it.If this is your first venture into this market,be carefull. In my opinion, the price increases seen these last few months are not sustainable unless Ben`s helicopter gets airborne again. http://www.early911sregistry.org/for...t-Targa-38-000

    Tom,

Ben brought the keys to the choppers with him to Jackson Hole.

Yes, I just looked at that the photos of the 'T' MFI Targa and agree with you. Looks like a very solid car and very well priced if it checks out mechanically.

Anthony, I know of a silver 1973 911S Targa that is in a private collection and could be for sale in the $120-130K range. I know the car very well and I think it would be a good investment. Send a PM if you have interest. The car is located in Southern California.
