Hood badges

I have a 66 911 coupe. I have two 901# orange bar badges. One has a goldish hue on the metal and the other is copperish color.
Anyone know which color is correct. The enamel is good on both.

Bob,
the original badge came with a gold plated finish. The base cast material is a copper alloy. That's why when you polish the base metal to a nice shine in a month or two the darker copper finish reappears. The original gold has been rubbed/polished off.

Some folks like the patina and will polish and clear coat to hold the color. Others will take it to their plater for re-plating. Look at the gold plating white gold, light yellow or a darker yellow gold samples and for less than about $50 it will have a finish for the next lifetime.

The Plating was done after the ceramic was fired so no harm to the red/black bars/antlers either when it was originally done or now if it's replated. (Just make sure someone hasn't touched up the ceramic with paint...).

This one is ready for another forty eight years.
