Well, if you want a car in that shape, that is what it costs. You'd have to buy a mechanically excellent E for 20k (good luck !) and then put 80 grand of parts and expert labour into it. Or, if you did it all with your own labour, you could maybe do it for 45k on top of the purchase price of the E. Maybe.
So its not like this is truely a 30k car that is being over inflated three times. Its an honest price for a well done car and no one is making any real money on it at that price, except for the restorers who put their effort into it.
Yes, generally speaking with pedestrian cars you don't expect to get out what you put in. Here, they aren't expecting to get more than what they put in. If you want a car in this condition, you can buy this or do it yourself. It's gonna cost the same or more.

There was a thread on this car when it was being restored. The owner was very upfront about the issues the car had. He DID spend a lot of money to get it where it is. That thread is long gone. Sometimes they disappear after a car is sold.
There was another thread about a car sold to a member that turned out to be a bit less than described once received. The sales ad thread and that thread disappeared too but the irony is that the thread on the BAT '67-S is where that car had its PPI.)

AK posted the restoration photos but I distinctly recall some that were a bit more hair raising. No matter I suppose as the issues were addressed but do know that a car like this made the case for everyone to have a PPI done. A lot of money and headaches could have been prevented.
Is it worth $100,000? Willing buyer, willing seller.

Having spent an hour driving and scrutinizing this car earlier this week, it has both strengths and certain drawbacks. Any serious buyer will want to examine it for himself and do his own PPI.
Yes, unfortunately, Eade purchased the car from a small dealer in NC and was disappointed in the condition represented. Sithot, you were right, he should have done a ppi, and it would have saved a lot of headache. In the end, the car was no where near as bad as Eade thought it would be. It just had lots of bad paint jobs. When it was down to the bare metal, there was poor fender repair in the right rear fender, and as a result some rust in the same area near the b-pillar. Also, one of the rear bumpers had rust. Everything else was good. Of course, these are all old cars and they all have something. Until you do what this car had gone through, you really don't know. Of Course now, it is fixed properly by the right people with the documentation to prove it.
Finally, what is the value of a 50k mile restored car vs a 150k mile restored car? I believe the lower mileage car is more desirable.
