    Jerry Grant R.I.P.

Another fast guy, at one time the fastest Indy car guy, passed away 3 weeks ago at the young age of 77.....

I was at the Davey and Norma Jordan BBQ in '09 sitting at the table listening to two senior women lamenting on how there husband's still drive fast everywhere. One of the women, with a slight European accent said "Ya, ya, I can NEVER get my Jerry to go slow down anywhere". I looked over at the tall slender gentleman (maybe 50lbs. slimmer then when I last saw him 40 years before at Riverside) coming to the table with his plate of food with Jerry Grant on his name tag... I looked over at the woman and said "Madam, good luck with that"

A pic I took that day at Davey's.........

BTW- That's Scooter Patrick on the right and Charlie Akely behind........ all 'Killers' on the track......

    Thumbs up

At that BBQ lunch table Jerry Grant was telling the story of being with Gurney at Le Mans in the GT-40, and in practice turning a faster time. Gurney ask Grant what he was do'n, Grant asked Gurney if he was flat through the 'kink', Gurney said 'Hell NO', Grant said "that's where the time is... even if have to put your left foot on your right to keep it down"... His story goes the next practice session Gurney came in shaking his head and had bettered Grant's time...

    These were iron men.......
