    Converting a 1971 2.2t into a hot rod

Some 14 months ago I decided to sell my Porsche 993 4S and to start a new adventure. This new adventure was a 1971 Glacier blue 911 2.2T, bought from a forum member who already finished some amazing projects. Only problem was me living on the other side of the Ocean in Holland.
After a few weeks the car finally arrived on my driveway. The plan was to restore the car not to be a perfect original, but a hot rod to my likings.
I think it’s about time now to share with you where this adventure took me all these months.
The first part was the bodywork. As you can see in the pictures, this was not an easy part! A lot of rust was hiding in several places of the bodywork. A lot of cutting and welding had to be done to get the bodywork in a good shape. Meanwhile I did a lot of thinking about the color of the car, the original signal orange, silver gray metallic, ivory or ivory light. After some painting examples I finally decided on Chiffon White, not period correct but really to my likings.
When restoring the body we also started restoring the engine. I decided to change the specifications to a 2.7s engine using pistons and cylinders of 2.7s, exhaust and intake of 2.7s and the crankshaft of a 2.7s engine. The engine will have approximately 210 bhp.
After 14 months of hard work we’re finally getting close to the finish. The engine and gearbox are installed in a great chiffon white body and is getting ready to move!
The final part will be the interior on which we start next week.
I will keep the forum posted on the progress!
