Lowering the front, remove rubber on top of the shock?

I am in the process of lowering the front of my car. Look at the picture, is the large rubber ring on the top of the shock absorber the one to remove(US only)? Can not find it in any parts manual? I will also lower by adjusting the allen bolt on the suspension and have it aligned afterwords.

    thanks
    John

I thought those were only on SCs. That might just be the bottom of the rubber strut top pivot bushing.

Those did not have the spacers. That must just be the bottom of the rubber bushing, not the rubber donut.

Inside the strut housing is a bump stop you may need to shorten depending on how low you go. I would not remove the bump stop completely.

I'm not precisely sure what you are doing here. If you want to lower the front, just tackle the hex note shown here. If you don't come down too far, nothing else need be done. I don't think the rubber you are looking at is relevant. If you're going for a couple of inches, you probably want to think of pulling the struts, cutting maybe 1/3 of the bump stop washers inside (search here, this isn't a new issue) and consider adding bump steer washers available from Pelican and others.
