1965-66 factory carpet. Wasn't there an upgrade available?

German square weave was standard I think but I'm trying to find out if a "plush" so called was available as an upgrade.
Thanks for any help on this.

Do you mean Haargarn? Some times called "pepper and salt"? It's a German wool cut pile in dark grey, I'm not sure when it began, but I've definitely seen in in a '67 and my '69 has it.

That Haargarn looks almost identical to Charcoal Squareweave (what most 66s came with, I think). I understand Squareweave was also made of wool.

Is there really much of a difference?

Huge difference, the square weave is a loop while the Haargarn is cut.

    1964 1965 Carpet

Haargarn was standard passenger compartment carpet in 1964 and 1965 911, and can be described as a plush. The square weave was only used in the front trunk.

A rubber heal pad was sewn onto the Haargarn carpet under the drivers pedals and over the tunnel. Early cars had corner snaps holding the carpet to welded-in-place floor snaps.

Rubber floor mats were introduced in 1965 for the 912 and were used for some markets as 911 variant models were introduced - 911T, 911L etc..

Does anyone have photos of the square weave being used? The early Drivers manuals 1965 thru 1968 only show the haargarn or rubber flooring.
