Parts ID help - door check straps

I recently purchased these to fit on my rally car, as they looked pretty cool

Can anyone advise their original fitment ?, they look OE from the buckles used, but I have not seen any fitted, I guess they are sixties period...

    Look forward to suggestions

Phil, I don't know what you have there, but they surely are purpose built.

Here is a set that I've had for many years; solid rubber and very burly.

Not sure if it's obvious from the pictures but they are leather, not rubber, but interesting similar markings where the two pieces are pressed in the central area comparing with Jens set

    Door check strap

The door check straps in the photos were from Gebr. Happich GmbH, Germany. See below. These were sold to be used on trucks and busses.

Amazing you found that, yes, that is definitely the strap, as it has the part number and the weight rating, as detailed on the document

Thank you for taking the time to respond

The ends look familiar like the luggage strap brackets on a 356 or early 911. Do the two straps form a "cradle" for a 356 cabriolet top assembly when it is in the collapsed position?? -Ed Anspach

    Ed, I don't really know about a 356 application.

I will use these door stops on my white car when I finally do the door panels and the rest of the lightweight interior.
