If only you could purchase a Peter Gregg 935 back in 1979...

Five very lucky individuals get to take delivery of their brand new 2012 Porsche 911 GT3 4.0 Cup cars - painted in the 2011 Championship Brumos livery - in a few days. The 4.0 motor is only available normally to those who race in the Grand AM GT class, which makes these five Cup cars pretty unique/special as they can be used for regular DE events, if one so desired.

If only this dream were possible back in the day with an early RSR or 935: http://tinyurl.com/6u8so8m

Some pics from when they first arrived from Porsche Motorsports...

actually Brumos would sell off all their race cars at the end of the season. Almost all of the 911 Carreras in Mexico came from Brumos or Holbert. Kremer sold a few too. For that matter the factory would sell one to anyone who had the money. and still do I think.

Luke, no graphics delete here. These stripes are painted on and the entire car clear coated... can't simply remove 'em. When you run your finger tip over the striped area it's smooth as glass, no raised area where the stripe starts/stops.

Here's a more recent pic with one of the five about ready to go...

Porsche started doing this a couple of years ago much to the disapointment of the guys who were promised when they bought their cup cars to go cup racing that Porsche would NOT sell new cars to folks not entered in one of the cup series. This meant that the market for used cup cars would be somewhat robust and as such the guys who spent the money etc. to race in the cup series had a market to sell their used cars at the end of the season and would then buy a new car for next season. This model was working fine until the economy slowed and Porsche ended up with extra cup cars....At that point, they dumped them on the mkt to anyone who wanted to buy one...This, as you might guess, ticked off several of the guys who bought new cars and commited to their respective cup car series.

I'm guessing the new cup car (based on the 991) is on it's way to the market, and Porsche had some old cup cars laying around and just noodled a novel way to get guys to buy NOS race cars
