    Steering

was putting on a new steering wheel when I noticed the central splined steering column has significant up and down, side to side play. Body is a 1969 912. It would appear there needs to be a bushing at or near the top. Does anyone have a photo of the right condition?

'97 Boxster, first delivered in DC Metro, silver/red -sold (huge mistake to buy this one)
'99 C2, silver/black, RoW M030, limited lip, short shift - sold (good ride, but...)

    '69 912, 3.2 with all the trimmings
    (finally got air cooled)

Does it do this with the wheel installed? If so did you transfer the spring, and spring cup from the old wheel? Did the wheel you took off do this?

There is a spring on the wheel hub, and a spacer under it. The curved part of the spacer fits toward the bearing and not into the spring. This will center the bearing on the wheel hub, or the wheel hub into the bearing.
