FS: Insanely Rare VW Dealer Mechanic's Tool Set

    ** SOLD **

This is for a friend. I'm planning on listing it on Samba and perhaps eBay, but as always I wanted to give this group the first shot at it.

My friend bought this at a swap meet over 20 years ago and he has always wondered what the heck it was. He asked me to research it because I spend so much time on the 'Net and I finally identified it. It's a tool kit provided by Volkswagen to dealer mechanics in the '60's. As it turns out, these are very, very rare. I came across beat up boxes with no tools selling for $300.

This one is mint - tools never used. The outside of the box shows some wear just from being shuffled around over the years, but the inside is practically untouched.

This is one of the rarest things I have ever come across - I wish it was for a Porsche!

I have to ask $1,200 as that is what my friend is hoping to get for it. If it doesn't sell here in a week or so I will put it on eBay with a notice here and on Samba. The VW guys evidently go ape over these. Will seriously consider reasonable offers as always.

Way cool set... have only seen one of these before, well used. Hen's teeth compared to Tourist and round VW kits.
I've been trying to locate the highly useful Hazet valve-adjust tool; whenever one appears it's gone in a flash.

    GLWTS, $1200 is VERY fair.

My friend is all excited about the response here and wants me to go to Samba and eBay sooner than later. So here exclusively for another 24 hours or so.

Tool kit is sold pending payment. Thanks for looking. And congratulations to the buyer. This is really rare and probably the mintiest one around.
