Thread: 2.5 mm flares

    Cool 2.5 mm flares

Does anyone have pictures of 25 mm flares on a B body 911?

I am thinking of going bigger wheels and my 7s just barely fit with 225 rubber...

Oops! My mistake... there is a mistaken decimal point. It is a 25 mm measurement. As I understand there were only a few cars that had this flare which allowed an 8 inch rim to be fitted to a narrow body car. Somewhere between the lip of a 70 an RS flare.

I think you probably mean 2.5 cm flares.

John Audette had a silver '73S (ex Nick Roveda) that had Factory-fitted flares like that.

What is the maximum tire width one can squeeze under these?

I was thinking about going 16s to see if there was a better tire selection...

Joe, when I bought the car that is now Leon's it had 16s mounted. I think the tire size was 205/55-16.

There looks to be sufficient clearance with them certainly. roughly 7.5 tread width with an overall diamtere of just under 25 inches. I spoke with Harvey Weidman and he can make a set of 16s into an 8R wheel, with offset to the inside. Am wondering out loud if a 225/45 x 16 tire would fit under with no rubbing... tread width on that size is 8.8 inches with a 23.8 OD.??????
