Good advice. Is finding the date code obvious?

Date code is stamped into the sidewall near the bead - its the number that's not neatly molded in. Should be 3 numbers, week and year of manufacture. Tough part is you won't know if a "2" year is 1972/82/92/02/12...

As a follow-up, I checked the tires on a balancer ..... Well the tire tech said the worst he'd ever seen. Replaced them with XWXs from England. Pricey but not as bad as USA pricing. They come right to the house, strapped two to a bunch.

Installed the XWXs. What a difference (no flat spotted tires). I have only put about 25 miles on the tires but they seem to perform well. Obviously not modern low-profile tires but seem great. When the weather dries a bit I can give a better feedback.
