Thread: What's a Rust Bucket '65 Worth These Days?

  1. #1

What's a Rust Bucket '65 Worth These Days?

Trying to establish a price for a '65 with major rust issues. Matching numbers car. Hate to see these dying like this.

Don't have the VIN, but will have it tomorrow.

Any thoughts on the value of this car as it sits? I know I haven't given much info (I haven't seen the car in person yet), but based on what you see, is it worth trying to save, and if so, what sort of value would you put on it?

    Hmmm... There's a concept!

It sure doesn't look like this one has moved this decade. I hate to see these early cars waste away to nothing...

Doesn't look so bad actually. Or probably wasn't until the pan and rockers sunk to the ground. With no where for the water to go, its gonna be ugly.

    It's listed on CL for $1200 and I've heard it's a 912.

Looks like H1's. I'd buy it for $1,200.

The door handles and window frames are 68 (or even 69 non vent?)?

I noticed those too. Maybe they are later doors (which could be a sign of early damage?) or the car isn't as advertised.
I hate to say it, but given the condition and if its really a 912, it may be worth the sum of its parts.

    Just my opinion.

Here's the rear. Depends on the interior conditions, maybe worth parting out. I'd jump on it at that price, if its a 911, but alas....
