Hi there, new member here. Just starting to take apart things in my 911T '70 and noticed this hole in the front. Can someone tell me what it was for? (and what I should do) Thanks.

Cars equipped with a Webasto heater had a duct in that spot.

There should be a formed cover over the top, but over the years these have become loose and lost.

Yes, thanks, I guess it's something I'll put on the to-do list. And thanks to all the replies.

Robert Breshears (AppBiz) was going to reproduce these some years ago - don't know if he ever did.

here you go, black formed cardboard.
note the central depression and the cutout for the drain tube at 10:00 position.
glued in place.
i thought it was from Appbiz too, but its not on his site.
maybe send him an e-mail?

Not sure, but I beleive Rennline makes some :

At least, you could contact them.
I did some myself using 1mm Alloy, not a big deal to make. I used thick paper to draw the model, then mark it to the Alloy plate, cut, drilled the 2 holes 6 mm, polished, painted in black, place a washer (window one with adhesive), use two 5x30mm Allen screw and bolts. Done
Took less then 30 minutes.
Cheers

I ended up finding mine rolling around in the trunk (in the crack above the gas tank).
