    Torsion Bar Tube

We are seeing an increasing number of cars, particularly SCs, with corrosion in the end of the torsion bar tube.

The missing shoulder stops a rubber bush from compressing correctly and even with hard bushes such as Delrin or Polybronze the bush will not locate correctly against the spring plate.

We looked for a solution but couldn't find anything readily available.

We have now made a steel cup which presses into the end of the torsion bar tube and can be welded on the edge.

This cup has the relevant flange and is the same inner size that is used on the 1965-1967 cars so it can accept the early smaller inner bush that is still available from Porsche or use a harder bush such as the UHMWPE1000 Polymer Bearing Material That we have also machined.

The O Ring Locates on a shoulder machined into the bush and acts as a tolerance ring.

I will post another photograph when we have the first parts fitted and welded in place.

    Hello Chris,
We have also seen this type of corrosion in fact all 6 cars here at the moment undergoing resto need some work in this area.
Here is what was needed, ours are not for re-sale purely internal use, so if something can be made and sold commercially that would be great.

    Good luck

    Alan
