Early SWB floor heater slides question

Were the 65-66 early 911's heater slides beige or black?

Interesting, what I thought. I just purchased from a member a set of NOS with 911 part numbers, the sliders are beige. Later cars? 356s?

Mine are black - I've been thinking of removing the bases to have them replated, but they are cap riveted in. I've never messed around with cap rivets, so am hesitant to dig in right now.

BTW, can you post some pics of the beige slides. I'd be curious to see them.

LOL, heat the plastic up with a hair dryer and GENTLY ease the slides over the bumps. Blast and plate away. You can achieve a nicer finish doing this than buying the new or NOS ones. The black plastic in both cases is a pretty rough molded part.

Good idea - thanks. I'll assume then that getting new rivets in place isn't a huge issue - McMaster must have some reasonable replacements.

You shouldn't need to remove the rivets. If you have a set of slides that requires you to remove the rivets due to corrosion, I would source a new set.
