Thread: FS: @eBay - 1966 911 Coupe in N. VA

  1. #11
I called to find out more about this car. I have no interest either way, but Charlie there claims the floor is completely original with horsehair mats still glued inside. That the undercoating was removed at one section and the spot welds are those used to attach the tunnel. He claims all drain vents are intact at rockers, and so is the Webasto exhaust. At least one fender has the matching last three digits of the chassis number stamped, and while the paint code plate is missing, the original selling dealer's paperwork states the color as Gulf blue and he claims you can see matching original paint elsewhere on the car. I wonder if the Gulf Blue used in 66 is different shade than the racing gulf blue offered in later years? There's a 66 Gulf Blue 912 on YouTube that looks just like this 66 911 see - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cs_Y5cui7eM

Again, I have no interest but feel if someone's looking for an early numbers-matching 911 in a rare color, this one warrants a closer look. There's paper work going back to new. As mentioned by others, the incorrect bits are easy to change. Price is another matter but we all know what it costs to buy a base car and have it restored.

If someone (from very far away on a long twisty road) would like to purchase it, I'd be happy to deliver it :-E...

Evidently the seller has now learned more about the originality of the car. They pulled their eBay ad but said they plan to relist with more info (and presumably different pricing expectations). We'll see what happens...
