Help with Michelin TB Fit to Fuchs

    Hi All

Question for the wheel/tyre gurus... Harvey?

I have a set of Michelin TB15 in 270/45 (23/62) and 295/40 (26/61) 15" of course - they were on 9 and 11 inch fuchs. My car has RS rear flares and standard front guards and normally runs 7 and 8 inch fuchs. I know there is not a hope that rear 26/61 tyres will fit the fuchs, but I'm pretty sure I can get the smaller 23/62 on my rear 8" fuchs leaving me with a set of 26/61 TBs to barter. My question is two-fold...

    1. Will the 610mm/24" diameter 23/62 fit well enough on the 8" fuchs and not foul the rear guards?
    2. Is there a narrower Michelin TB available to go on my 7" front fuchs and will they fit standard guards without fouling?

Thanks for any assistance (and photos )

    Cheers

What sizes would fit quite well on RS flared cars are 18/60s front and back. The 23s will be too wide as these are equivalent to 270/45s.

Here is a picture I have taken of an RS with 18/60 all way round:

I agree with Christian. The specs look good and they fit on his car.
The only vintage tires that we have put on the RS flairs are the Avons.
Christian, how much camber and how close is the outside lip on the fronts?
I may try a set on my car....
The 23/62 and the 18/60 are the tires we put on Joey's ST with 8&9s....and much bigger flairs.
That is also the size combo that we put on 9&11s. Yes, I know they are stretched for the wheels but they look and work very nice.

    Thank you Gents.

It would appear what I have will be just too wide for my application - I certainly don't want to blister the new paint on my guards

    Hi Gents

I've sourced one pair of the 18/60 15 locally which will go on my 8" rear wheels. I'm about to purchase another pair and am wondering on your thoughts relating to using the 15/60 15 on the front 7" fuchs instead... will they be too "skinny" looking? http://www.longstonetyres.co.uk/page...elin-tb15.html

    Thanks

    John,

As mentioned on the Pelican thread I spoke to longstone regarding the 15/60-15 - these seem to be from 2004 as this was the last time Michelin has produced them. So perhaps you should talk to them on the production date.

    Hi Christian

You're right that the 15/60 are pretty much 2004 code only, however I won't be tracking my car and (from all accounts) the tyres have been warehoused and stored correctly. Longstone are also offering free delivery worldwide at the moment, so they remain attractive to me!

Any thoughts on the size? I think the alternative sizes are 215/55-15 for the rear and 170/65-15 for the front with 614mm and 602mm OD respectively. I think this makes them awfully close to the original RS sizes

    I run 18/60 TB 15's on 7J&8Jx15 Fuchs

The tyres sit nice on the rim, and plenty of mechanical grip

    Thanks Phil, wonderful shots!

Well that's probably sorted it for me then - I'll run 18/60 on all four corners.

    Cheers
